Australia Day

I hope everyone had a lovely, if a little wet, Australia Day.  We celebrated here at Noah’s on Friday with face painting, Australia craft, reading Australian Books and of course eating Australian Food!  The children all had fun preparing and then eating their vegemite sandwiches followed by a yummy pavlova and lamingtons.  All vital ingredients in Possum Magic. Thank you Miss Beccy for the great face painting (She is happy to come to birthday parties)

Book Week 2014

Oh what fun we had this week.  So many book characters came to Noah’s Ark to play.  We had princesses and princes, superheros, pirates, lady birds and so many others.  Our teachers also got into it with Winnie the Pooh, Alice in Wonderland, Red Riding hood, Little Miss Muffet, The Wicked Witch, The Paperbag Princess, Where’s Wally and more coming along.  We had two great parades and thank you to the parents and grandparents who came along to watch and cheer the children as they proudly showed off their costumes.  On Friday we welcomed Catrina Hylton to the centre.  This wonderful storyteller kept us entertained with stories of carnivals around the world.  We travelled to four different countries using the magic carousel and learnt some great songs and dances along the way.

Many of our children were lucky to be bought some new books from our Book Fair that ran all week.   You can never have too many books!!!!

Naidoc Week

We all had a great time celebrating this special week.

Rachel, one of our parents kindly came in to share her family’s culture with us all.  She showed us a video of her husband’s mob performing.

She bought in didgeridoos and tapping sticks that the children talked about and the boys had a go playing the didgeridoo and the girls played the tapping sticks.

This was followed by some time spent creating some beautiful artworks.  Thank you so much Rachel for your time.

This great family also produced a unique artwork for the centre which is proudly displayed in the Rainbow Room

Peppa Pig’s Big Splash

What a great time we had on Friday.  We set out to raise $150 for the Little Treasures Foundation and have some fun along the way.  Well we raised $500 and certainly had fun.  There was a slip and slide, paddling pools, water pistols and of course a very muddy puddle to splash in.  All the children joined in making sure that everyone got wet.  Elijah got the first turn in the muddy puddle as he raised $80.  He was joined by Miss Cate and Miss Beccy.

Clean Up Kurraba!!!!

What a fantastic morning we had today cleaning up our local park.  All the children put on their gloves and got their tongs ready.  With the help of Pastor David, Graeme, Jamie-Lee, Melanie and Lee all the children split into small groups and set off to see what rubbish had been left and needed picking up. With much enthusiasm we collected 5 full bags of rubbish and two of recycling.  What a successful trip.  The children should be very proud of their efforts.

Clean Up Australia Postponed

Due to wet weather we have had to postpone our Clean Up efforts.  We will try again on Friday 7th March

Our Nativity Play

We decided this year to perform  two Nativity Plays with the children to tell the Story of Jesus’ birth.  All the children were given a part in the paly with our some of our older children who would be going to big school learning some lines.  We all learnt to sing Silent Night, Baa Baa White Sheep, 1 Little, 2 little, 3 little angels, We Three Kings, Twinkle twinkle little star, Away in a manger and We wish you a merry Christmas.  The staff practised with each group and we rehearsed in the Church.  On the day everyone got dressed in their costumes and performed the play in front of lots of parents, grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and friends.  Everyone did really well.  Pastor David videoed the performances as well.  Afterwards everyone enjoyed a picnic lunch.

Early Childhood Teachers

We are delighted to announce that we have now employed two new staff members here at Noah’s Ark.

Sue and Linda are both University trained Early Childhood Teachers with over 30 years of experience between them.  These wonderful ladies will be working in our Rainbow Room with our three to five year olds throughout the year as they prepare for Big School.  We are all looking forward to working together to ensure your children receive the best Care and Education possible.
